What is a rack
The rack is the steering system used in the car and in the van

Rack types
There are three categories that are currently being fitted to cars by the automotive industry.
- Hydraulic Rack
- Electric Rack (EPS)
- Mechanical Rack (used in very old cars, and in new ones where their steering system works electrically having the assistance of the steering column which is located just below the steering wheel).
Rack damage
The most common fault that occurs in a hydraulic rack is the leakage of its liquids (oils).
Leakage may be due to stress on the seals due to both long-term use due to pressure and other external factors (such as wear of the toothed shaft due to wear of the protective bellows located at the ends of the rack at the junction with the half bar , resulting in the penetration of foreign bodies such as moisture, mud, soil).
In mechanical rack the most common problem is, due to long-term use, play is created in the rings and bearings of the hanger, with the result that when driving mainly on uneven roads there is noise (bump), the same occurs in abrupt maneuvers.
Electric rack (EPS)
More and more manufacturers are now turning to the solution of universal electrical assistance EPS (Electrically Power Steering) of the steering system.

Hydraulic steering damages
The most common faults in a hydraulic steering are:
- Leaking hydraulic steering.
- Clearance (gaps) when driving resulting in instability of the vehicle on the road.
- Loss of power when turning the steering wheel.
- Incorrect reset of the vehicle when turning the steering wheel
- Difficulty turning the steering wheel in one direction (right or left).
